About
Family Literacy Connection assists less privileged families in successfully breaking cycles of illiteracy and poverty. Our programs include an Afterschool/Summer enrichment program for elementary aged students, Child Development Center, Adult Education, and Parents as Teachers Home Visiting. We are the Dougherty County Family Connection and the Prevent Child Abuse Chapter of Dougherty County. Our vision is for families and children to live in safe, stable, successful homes and to be engaged in community. We do this through the creation of innovative and holistic educational programs for students at both ends of the learning continuum. We provide GED preparation and training for individuals and parents as well as high-quality child development classes for their children. Thereby removing one barrier to continuing education and economic self-sufficiency. Life and parenting skills training and literacy-based home visits provide additional support and education for families. Our Afterschool/Summer program focuses on enrichment activities for students with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) education, tennis lessons, and homework help.
