About & Mission
Helms College is a private, nonprofit career college owned and operated by Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia & the CSRA, founded in the spirit of Dr. Edgar J. Helms’s mission to provide workforce training and life‑changing education for individuals facing economic barriers . We serve students at campuses in Augusta and Macon, GA, delivering diploma, certificate, and associate degree programs geared toward quickly launching careers.

Licensing & Accreditation
Helms College is licensed by the Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (GNPEC) and accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET). Its Culinary Arts programs are also accredited by the American Culinary Federation (ACF).

School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts

• Programs: Culinary Arts (certificate, diploma, AAS), Baking & Pastry 
• Recognized as one of the top culinary schools nationally, ranked #8 in the U.S. by Niche.com in 2025 
• Experiential learning through operating venues such as Edgar’s Bakehouse, Edgar’s Grille, Pinnacle Club, Anderson & Snelling Conference Centers, Edgar’s Above Broad, and Edgar’s Acres farm—giving real-world restaurant, catering, and event service experiences for students.

School of Health Services

• Multi‑Skilled Medical Assistant (12 months) 
• Hands‑on externships and nationally recognized certification opportunities in a short timeframe under 2 years Helms College

School of Industrial Trades / Technical

• Program: HVAC/R Training with access to a fully equipped HVAC lab, multimedia classrooms, and practical training facilities
