Retired USAF Major Tracy Reynolds wasn’t afraid of a good fight. When she opened Birdhouse Quilts in January 2016, several thought Tracy would lose the fight to keep her small store open because her selection wasn’t as broad as established stores. What Tracy lacked in selection, she made up in customer service, earning and growing loyal customers. Ten years later, Tracy combined her loyal customers with a greater selection of goods and services. The results: Birdhouse Quilts is the quilting hub of Middle Georgia. 

Birdhouse Quilts truly shines like a pieced top – if you will – in its ability to create space for everyone. We welcome husbands to settle into the comfy nest (couch) while their wives take their time shopping.  As you walk into the store, you will be welcomed by our bright, beautiful batiks. Traditional quilters pull from our rows of thirties and civil war reproduction prints. While bold creators have rows of Tula Pink & Free Spirit to explore. Our large color wall encourages creativity as the colors dance off the bolts. Nursery fabric is housed in an antique baby crib. Both the crib and the prints are adorable. Oh, and please don’t leave without checking out the bathrooms. You won’t regret it.

We carry BERNINA and bernette sewing machines as well as Arrow Sewing Furniture. Our classroom is a comfy space where quilters of all skills levels are welcome, encouraged and celebrated. From teaching new quilters to fly to teaching new techniques to our wise old owls, our classroom is always flying!! Let us finish your pieced project with our long arm quilting and binding services. 

A little bird told me that the quality of the fabric and the comradery keep customers coming back. As a result, our wonderful customers voted us the 2023 “Best of Georgia Regional” in Craft and Hobby Stores. In 2024, we were honored with the “Best in Georgia” in the same category.

We enjoy giving give back to the community by hosting a Community Sew at The Annual Georgia National Fair. We help fair-goers sew quilt blocks together. We put the quilt blocks together to make a quilt for our local Veterans.
