Sweety's Cafe & Tea Room

Our Story

Sweety’s is the passion project of owner Cheryl Lott. After more than 20 years as a stay-at-home mom raising her five children, Cheryl was ready to begin a new chapter. In April 2022, she set out to fulfill a dream of creating a welcoming café and tea room—a place where hospitality, family, and meaningful connections are at the heart of every visit.

The name Sweety’s is a heartfelt tribute to Cheryl’s beloved mother-in-law, affectionately known as "Sweety," whose love language has always been serving others through food. For more than 30 years, she has inspired Cheryl with her generosity and hospitality. Many of the recipes enjoyed at Sweety’s are treasured family favorites that have been shared around the Lott family table for over five decades.

Cheryl’s journey began at the Canton Farmers Market, where she introduced her signature chicken salads while dreaming of one day opening a brick-and-mortar café. That dream became a reality in February 2023, when Sweety’s Café and Ice Cream Bar officially opened its doors.

In December 2023, Cheryl expanded the business by introducing traditional afternoon tea service, adding an entirely new layer of charm and hospitality. As word spread, Tea at Sweety’s quickly became a favorite destination for guests seeking an elegant, relaxing, and memorable experience.

The year 2025 marked an exciting new chapter as the business officially became Sweety’s Café & Tea Room, complete with a dedicated dining space designed exclusively for The Tea Room and its signature tea experiences.

Sweety’s is especially honored to carry on the cherished legacy of Tea Leaves & Thyme, the beloved Woodstock tea room founded by Kim Jordy. As a longtime admirer of Kim’s exceptional tea blends and traditions, Cheryl is proud to continue serving those same premium teas to a new generation of guests while welcoming longtime Tea Leaves & Thyme guests to create new memories at Sweety’s.

Today, Sweety’s is proudly locally owned and a women-owned small business in the heart of Canton. Cheryl works alongside several of her children, who share her passion for serving others and creating memorable experiences. Together, they have built more than a café and tea room—they have created a place where guests are welcomed like family, every recipe is prepared with care, and every visit is an opportunity to celebrate life's sweetest moments.
