About
About CASA of Lowndes and Echols Counties, Inc.
At CASA of Lowndes and Echols Counties, Inc., we believe every child deserves to be safe, heard, valued, and supported- especially during some of the most difficult and uncertain moments of their life.
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Our nonprofit organization recruits, screens, trains, and supports community volunteers who advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are involved in dependency court proceedings. CASA volunteers take the time to get to know the child, communicate with the people involved in their life, advocate for their individual needs, and provide the Juvenile Court with independent information and recommendations focused on the child's best interests.
What makes CASA special is the power of showing up. Children experiencing foster care may encounter changing placements, schools, caseworkers, service providers, and circumstances. A CASA volunteer can provide a consistent presence- someone focused on that individual child and committed to helping ensure their voice is heard as decisions are made about their future.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Sonia Robinson, CASA of Lowndes and Echols Counties is focused on growing its volunteer base, strengthening community partnerships, and expanding its capacity to reach more children throughout Lowndes and Echols Counties. Our work is made possible by dedicated volunteers, staff, board members, donors, businesses, civic organizations, and community partners who believe that children deserve strong advocates in their corner.
Being nominated for Best of Georgia is especially meaningful because it reflects the community that stands behind our mission. For us, recognition isn't simply about our organization- it's an opportunity to bring greater awareness to the children we serve and the continued need for CASA volunteers.
Our vision is simple but ambitious: a CASA for every child who needs one.
Because changing a child's story can begin with one person willing to show up.
