About
The Polk County Historical Society formed in 1974 at the historic Hawkes Children's Library building in Cedartown, Georgia. In 2018, the PCHS museum moved to a larger and more accessible location on West Avenue, across from the historic West Cinema. The spacious museum floor includes a large showroom, three themed room exhibits and a bank vault exhibit from the building's mid-century days as the Liberty National Bank. As an ongoing special exhibit, we have three working looms that produce items for our gift shop and we host various events in our second floor conference area. Our artifacts include a variety of themes: Native American, Military, Education, Family Life, African American, Civic Groups & Organizations, Medical, Sports and Business/Industry history of Polk County, Georgia.
