Little Bit Of Heaven Rescue

Little Bit of Heaven Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit rescue dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of the cats of Whitfield County, Georgia and surrounding areas. Theresa Persaud, Owner and Operator, has been rescuing cats since 2008. Being a non-profit organization, the ability to rescue, vet and rehome these cats relies greatly on the donations received. Before a cat can be adopted out to a new home, they must have the proper shots, testing and be neutered or spayed. What makes us different from some other rescues is that we require each of our cats to be tested for FeLV and FIV as well as be vaccinated for FeLV/FIV, FVRCP, and Rabies before we rehome them. On average, this costs about $180+ per cat not including the food and supplies it takes to keep them healthy until they are adopted. Multiply that by the 300-500+ cats a year that LBOH rescues and those costs add up quickly! A large portion of the cats that LBOH rescues are not healthy and they often need emergency vetting, around the clock care, antibiotics, and sometimes even surgery which makes these costs even greater. We do not believe in euthanizing animals, so often times, if donations are not enough to cover the costs for these cats, Theresa will pay out of her own pocket to save their lives. LBOHR currently operates with only 4 volunteers and Theresa herself. Why cats, you ask? Theresa originally started out wanting to rescue Akitas, but every time she would go to the shelters, there were so many cats on death row. It really spoke to her heart. “I started helping cats because they needed me more than the dogs did. And even now, there is still more need for help with cats. It’s like dipping water out of the ocean with a teaspoon.”
