About

"Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel," said Socrates.  It's important for children to be active learners as a part of the self-discovery process!  Unfortunately, too many distractions and lack of individualized structure can make it difficult for students to really learn in their own unique way. After being inspired by "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens" by Sean Covey and seeing many of my high school students wasting away, I had to create something to help!  It takes utilizing the virtues of passion and discipline side-by-side to master anything, so I wanted a program that helps students develop focus habits to support whatever they endeavor to do; hence, the birth of "50/50 Study Skills" and STAG (Structure, Talents, Animals and Gardens)!

I offer my structured in-home tutoring services for students 5th through 12th grades. The STAG program is used primarily for families but it can be used school-wide! I have been extremely blessed to have the pleasure of working with many students and families in the Atlanta and surrounding areas over the past 6 years.  Most recently, I had the great opportunity to offer our STAG pilot exclusively at North Henry Academy in Stockbridge!  We had healthy eating seminars and meals with families, "Love and Logic", "Seven Habits" workshops, our Study Skills programs, and much more!  My methodology is to blend our programs into the fabric of students' educational needs and find the best workable lifestyle fit for them, their families and within schools. I love seeing students experience the satisfaction of hard work and genuine accomplishment - some for the first time their academic lives!  No matter what goal they set, moving upwards from where they were, I get a peek into the person in the cocoon "becoming".  The important part for me is to bring a system of high value - to be an integral part of what the student needs - to help them own their education, embrace the process and ultimately "discover their butterfly"!
