About
The Tabor House Museum is located in a Victorian style house built prior to 1900, and is believed to be the oldest surviving house in Ellijay Georgia. The museum honors the history and heritage of the North Georgia Mountain life in Gilmer County Georgia. The museum contains artifacts and donate items related to the Cherokee Indian Nation, early settlers in Gilmer County, Local History, the Civil War, and United States Military history.
The museum has two Open Houses each year where volunteers dress in turn-of-the-century clothes, musicians play music from the early 1900's, children demonstrate toys from that period, and civil war reenactors show and talk about their gear. The museum also periodically hosts Ghost Tours of the Tabor House.
