Hello, I'm Melissa Rewis, a mother of six who has dedicated most of my adult years to raising children while working in the realms of marketing and sales. Presently, I am the proud owner of Rambling Oaks Photography in Folkston, Georgia. Following the loss of my stepfather to Covid in 2021, I was inspired to start my business. Sorting through photographs for his memorial service made me realize the immense value of these mementos once someone is gone. Photography has always been a passion of mine, starting with capturing moments of my own children using the best camera available at the local Walmart for under $500, the renowned Canon Rebel in the early 2000s. Life got busy, and I didn't find the time to pursue it further until the pandemic gave me the opportunity to reignite my passion. I ventured onto Mercari and acquired the best camera I could find for under $500, which turned out to be the professional-grade Canon 1D Mark III. Despite my initial lack of knowledge in using manual mode, I delved into numerous YouTube tutorials and mastered my camera. This journey led me to realize that if I could learn to operate a professional camera, I could also become a professional photographer. The rest, as they say, is history. I now capture moments all across southeast Georgia and northeast Florida, and there's nothing else in the world I'd rather be doing.
