I didn’t start Emerson Exchange with a business plan or a boardroom.I started it with a folding table, a handful of local vendors, a baby on my hip, and a dream to build something that mattered.

I was a young mom trying to find purpose beyond survival mode. I had a small business, big ideas, and a heart that kept whispering, “There has to be more.” More connection. More support. More room for people like me - chasing something meaningful in a world that so often overlooks small beginnings.

In the noise of the digital age with ads, emails, and algorithms pulling us in a hundred directions I saw what was missing: genuine human connection.The kind that can’t be faked or fast-tracked. The kind that happens across a table when someone says, “Wow, you made this?” or “I’ve been looking for a business like yours.”

That’s why I built Emerson Exchange. Not just to host events but to create a space where people can truly show up for one another. Where shoppers meet makers. Where families find their favorite new business. Where side hustles turn into sustainable livelihoods.What started as a dream has grown into a movement supporting hundreds of businesses, helping single moms pay rent, giving retired veterans a fresh start, and celebrating teenage entrepreneurs who make their very first sale.
