Hi Ya'll....I'm Mia Cosper, owner/proprietor of Sweet Tea Antiques & Junk Boutique.  I often get asked, "How did you get your business started"?  Like a lot of you, I had awesome grandparents who never threw anything away- it was always "fixable or needed a little mending"! If they didn't want to keep or need it, then they gave it someone who did.  Growing up, that mentality stuck with me.   Also, I loved playing dress-up with my grandmother's vintage costume jewelry, gloves and hats...I still collect vintage jewelry!

Leaving college, I had a full time job that I really liked because it involved meeting and helping people. After buying my first home, I realized the second-hand furniture I could afford needed a lot of TLC.  I started working on pieces for my own home, and fell in love with taking pieces that others had discarded and giving them new life...making them beautiful again....and giving them a new purpose.  I then realized that I could earn a second income by selling some of them.

My passion really grew for learning new techniques on painting, staining, refinishing and repairs.  I sought out people who could teach me what they knew and before long, the idea would not go away that this is what I would rather do...work for myself. Long hours, but when you love something, you really can't call it work!  I kept that full time job for two years, then opened my own shop. Eight years later, I'm glad that I did...it's been tough at times, but a lot of fun too, and I look back and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I love being the owner of Sweet Tea Antiques, and now I'm so happy that my son enjoys hanging out with me and "working".  He's even suggested we open a shop at the beach! Who knows what the future holds?
