ConversationStarters Bookstore

LaShon Ormond, the owner of ConversationStarters Bookstore is a passionate advocate for literacy, reading, and writing, a commitment deeply rooted in her personal beliefs about the power of education, access and opportunity and a testament to her dedication to fostering a love for books within her community. LaShon's passion for storytelling extends to her work as an author. She has co-created ten engaging and educational children's books with South African illustrator Frank Lunar, enriching young minds with captivating narratives. Further showcasing her literary contributions, LaShon has contributed to the recently released anthology, In Relentless Pursuit of Me, with her compelling piece titled "In Relentless Pursuit of Sisterhood". Given her passion for reading and writing and creating, it makes sense that she would create a third space for her community that reflects what she values.

With over 1700 square feet of open space, ConversationStarters Bookstore was intentionally designed to provide spaces to gather, to play and/or to stay awhile. The evidence of the thought and care that went into each detail from the placement of the books to the spaces carved out for individual and group interaction for even our smallest ones greets each community member as they enter the store. With hundreds of titles and book-themed accessories, we know there is something for everyone. Designed to move from retail space to private and public events, ConversationStarters Bookstore is so much more than a bookstore. It truly is a place to build community. Whether through our author visits, book clubs, paint & sip, game nights, open mic nights or private events, we are here for you so come on in and join the conversation.
