About
Founded in 1836 as the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women and shaped by Methodist values, Wesleyan provides students an academically challenging and relevant liberal arts education. Wesleyan draws a wonderfully eclectic mix of women – about 800 in all – from across the United States and a variety of countries around the world, bringing a multitude of backgrounds and ethnicities. Most traditional undergraduate students live on campus.
Wesleyan offers 24 majors and 35 minors including self-designed interdisciplinary studies, the bachelor of science in nursing, and the bachelor of fine art degrees, plus nine pre-professional programs. The top five majors are business administration, nursing, psychology, elementary education, and biology. Wesleyan offers a dual degree in engineering in conjunction with Georgia Institute of Technology, Auburn University, and Mercer University. Additionally, the College offers women online bachelor’s degree programs in business, accounting, and applied psychology. Men and women can enroll in six graduate programs: Master of Business Administration, Master of Elementary Education, Master of Science in Healthcare Administration or Nonprofit Management, and the Master of Arts in Music.
Wesleyan is home to six NCAA Division III athletic teams – basketball, cross country, track, soccer, softball, and volleyball – and an award winning equestrian program that competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association and the Intercollegiate Dressage Association.
On Wesleyan's campus, is a 100-acre Arboretum which features approximately three miles of trails, Mathews Athletic Center, Wesleyan Academy of Lifelong Learning, and Willet Library are terrific resources for the Middle Georgia community.
