This labor of love was started by Tina Burger Berry in 2020. When her parents retired and closed down the family-owned Burger’s Market after 45 years in business, Tina and her husband Anthony Berry decided to reopen with a slightly different format that required less overhead, and now they are doing what they love for a living.
The weekly pop-up market in Marietta and Acworth provides fresh, local, and seasonal produce to customers – handpicked by Tina, her husband (Anthony Berry), and her dad (JR Burger), while traveling to farmer’s markets in Atlanta, Ga. and Asheville, N.C. Having learned how to choose her products wisely from her dad – known as the “best tomato man in the Southeast” – Tina goes through every crate of fruits and vegetables and chooses only the best for her customers. “If it’s not pretty and fresh,” she’s not loading it onto her truck. They also handpick the beautiful flowers for each week’s pop-up market.
Customers can order in advance of each pop-up event (multiple locations and days), or they can simply walk up and shop at the mini farmer’s market that has a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies, local honey, and other locally sourced products.
The affordable prices and fresh selection of products at Burger’s & Berry’s Pop Up Market are not the only reasons they have such a loyal following. Customers, who are oftentimes family and friends, come in for the camaraderie, as Tina and her family have taken the time to develop relationships with them. They treat everyone who comes in like a member of their own family. The first weekend Tina ramped back up, her social media post went viral, and people were showing up and waiting as long as it took to pick up their orders. No one complained, and they were genuinely happy just to see the Burger and Berry families and catch up.
Some of the loyal following remember seeing Tina and her sister as children sleeping in banana boxes behind the counter in the original store. The family business was what they grew up around, and Tina knew she would open back up again when the time was right. Her customers are thrilled, and her heart is happy.
