Lockerly Arboretum

The dream of the founder of Lockerly Arboretum, Mr. E.J. Grassmann, was for Lockerly to be a gift to a community that he loved. Today, we honor his dream by being free and open to the public. Visitors to Lockerly may walk or drive our grounds, hike the nature trails, or have a picnic in the meadow at no charge.

The mission of Lockerly Arboretum is to inspire an understanding and appreciation of horticulture, nature and heritage.

Dedicated to providing plant lovers of all ages a serene setting for observing and learning about horticulture, nature and heritage, Lockerly Arboretum aspires to become a nationally accredited arboretum while preserving and protecting our antebellum crown jewel, Rose Hill.
