Lockerly Arboretum

Lockerly Arboretum was founded in 1965 by Mr. E.J. Grassmann.  It was his dream for Lockerly to be a gift to a community that he loved. Today, we honor his dream by being free and open to the public. Visitors to Lockerly may walk or drive our grounds, hike the nature trails, or have a picnic in the meadow at no charge.

The mission of Lockerly Arboretum is to ignite curiosity and wonder by connecting people to the beauty of horticulture, the richness of nature, and the stories of our shared heritage. 

We envision Lockerly Arboretum to be a beloved and inspiring destination where people of every age discover, explore, and care for the natural world.  Through immersive programs, inviting landscapes, and meaningful community partnerships, we cultivate a lifelong love of nature, history, and environmental stewardship.
