About
Our Story – From Roots to Wine
Our journey into winemaking began in 2009, sparked by a curiosity for the craft and countless hours spent reading blogs and watching videos about the art and science of wine. With a professional background in the carpet industry working with dyes and chemicals, I found the transition into winemaking both natural and fascinating—blending creativity with chemistry in a whole new way.
By 2012, I proudly bottled my first wine using Catawba grapes I had grown myself. I also began experimenting with a variety of fruit wines, and the positive feedback from friends and family planted a seed: maybe this could be more than just a hobby.
In 2016, that seed took root when we invested in a wide variety of grapevines to establish our own vineyard. Just three years later, in 2019, my wife and I made the exciting decision to build a farm winery. After years of hard work and dedication, Broken Horseshoe Vineyard officially opened its doors in October 2023.
Today, we offer a wide selection of distinctive wines, with 50% of our portfolio proudly classified as Estate wines—meaning every step of the process, from vine to bottle, happens right here on our property.
We're incredibly proud of the recognition our wines have received. Our Chambourcin has twice earned Double Gold and Best of Show honors, with an impressive score of 94 out of 100 points. Our Norton has also been recognized with a Silver Medal.
For us, this venture is more than a business—it's the realization of our retirement dream. We love welcoming new faces, sharing stories, and hearing feedback from fellow wine lovers. At the end of the day, there’s nothing more rewarding than relaxing with a glass of our wine, surrounded by good friends.
