About

Hi, I’m Kim, owner of Statement Boutique. This business is part of a story I never could have planned, but one I’m deeply grateful to be living.

I first knew Statement as a customer, then as an employee who loved her job. In September 2023, I took a leap of faith and became its owner. I was stepping into something that required me to believe in myself again. Looking back, I can see God’s hand in the journey, especially in the moments when I couldn’t see what came next.

In 2021, I lost my husband, Chuck, and with him, so much of the security and future I thought I knew. After 21 years as a stay-at-home mom, I found myself learning how to move forward in a life that looked very different from the one I had imagined. Grief changed me. There were days when getting through the day was enough, and imagining a new future felt beyond my reach.

Working at Statement gave me something to look forward to. It gave me connection, purpose, and room to discover what I was capable of. Becoming its owner meant trusting God with the unknown and taking a chance on a future I was still learning to picture.

In early 2026, an unexpected opportunity brought that journey home. After more than a decade in North Paulding, I had returned to Smyrna, the city where I was raised. A simple walk through Smyrna Market Village led me to a space where I could imagine Statement’s next chapter. Today, I get to unlock the door to my own boutique in my hometown. That still stops me sometimes. After everything that happened, I get to be here.

My vision for Statement is personal: a welcoming place where women feel comfortable being themselves. I want a woman to walk in and feel seen, whether she’s choosing an outfit for a joyful occasion, navigating a difficult season, or simply taking a little time for herself. Helping her find something she loves matters. So does listening, remembering her, and making sure she knows she’s welcome.

As a proud mother of two adult children, I know how much life changes and how much we need people who encourage us along the way. That belief shapes how I run my business. Relationships matter more to me than a single sale. I hope the care a customer feels here is what brings her back.

The support of Smyrna has touched me more than I can fully explain. Customers have asked, “Kim, you’re doing well here, right? Because we need you to stay.” Those words mean so much to someone who has poured her heart into building this little shop. Neighboring businesses have welcomed me, shared my posts, sent customers my way, and celebrated my milestones. I feel that support every day, and I want to give it back.

Being nominated for a Georgia business award is an honor. Behind Statement are years of rebuilding, prayers whispered through uncertainty, and people who helped me keep going. There is also the daily work of showing up, learning, making difficult decisions, and caring for the customers who choose to support me.

I’m proud of the business I’m building and grateful for what it has given me the opportunity to give others. My story holds both deep loss and unexpected joy. Through Statement, God has given me a place to put my heart, serve my community, and keep growing.

Every time someone chooses to shop with me, I’m reminded that this dream is being supported by real people. I never want to take that for granted.
