Mars Theatre

In 1945, the Mars Theatre opened its doors to the bustling town of Springfield, Georgia. For twelve

years, the theatre brought culture and excitement to the downtown area until the development of

television lead to its closure in 1957. The theatre remained abandoned in the years following, leaving only a memory of its short, but vibrant past.

With support from the Springfield Revitalization Corporation and a grant from the Fox Theatre Institute,

the theatre reopened in 2014. In the four years since the theatre’s reopening, the Mars has seen steady growth and success. It has hosted Grammy winners, shown many blockbuster hits, sponsored community events and inspired new growth in downtown Springfield.

In 2018, the Mars Theatre completed a $750,000 expansion project that enlarged the stage, added dressing rooms, wing space and much needed storage.   A newly added load-in area makes the theatre an ideal venue for performers.
