About

Currahee Military Museum has over 14,000 sq. ft. of exhibits showcasing our county and local veterans as well as an outstanding collection of history about the men that trained at Camp Toccoa located at the base of Currahee Mountain during WWII.

Known around the world as "Currahees" or "Toccoa Men", they are the soldiers that trained and fought with the Army's 506th, 501st, 511th and 517th Parachute Infantry Regimental.  Over 18,000 men came to Toccoa to volunteer to become a paratrooper.  Only 6000 of them actually passed and were later shipped overseas to fight with the 101st Airborne, 11th and 17th Airborne.  The 511th was shipped to the Pacific, the other three regiments went to Europe.

Featured exhibit is a seventy foot long century old horse stable from Aldbourne England that was "Home" to the WWII Paratroopers of Able and Easy Companies 506th before and after D-Day June 1944.  The stable was brought to Toccoa in 2004 and opened to the public when the depot and additional buildings were completed in 2005 and 2009.

Four of the stable stalls are dedicated to each regiment with displays and photos of their unique training and battles.
