Open Arms Clinic

Open Arms Clinic is a primary clinic providing free healthcare and medications to the indigent and working poor citizens of Stephens County Georgia with compassion and caring.  For over 18 years we have been dedicated to serving our uninsured residents who exist at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Level through the provision of primary medical care, education, and specialty referrals. Our providers as well as our nursing and clerical staff are all volunteers.  We are funded by private donors, fundraisers, grants, and foundation funding as they are awarded. Through our partnerships with our local Stephens County Hospital and participating providers, we can offer free laboratory and radiology diagnostic testing, wound care, vision exams, and limited dental services.  With the support of local affiliated organizations, patients can access free glasses and groceries when needed. Patients may obtain durable medical supplies from our clearinghouse, as well as shoes, coats, and hygiene articles. Specialty services depend upon the availability of those specialties in our rural community and the ability of our patients to access distant care destinations.   We use Northside and Northeast GA Medical Centers to attain greater access to these critical services, including consultation, examination and treatment. We provide gas vouchers to assist them with travel. Finally, we offer educational services targeted at meeting the needs of the individual. We strive to help every patient become knowledgeable regarding their disease process and have an understanding of the impact personal behaviors can have on their health. 100% of our patients have attended at least one education session. Our primary goal is to enable our patients to resume their place in the community as productive healthy citizens.  In the event the patient is unable to achieve this goal, secondary to their advanced state of disease, we help them achieve the best possible quality of life.
