About
Penfield Addiction Ministries' mission of "Reclaiming Alcohol and Drug addicted Men and Women through Christ and Christian Love" began on January 2, 1979, as a ministry sponsored by the Georgia Baptist Association in Washington, Georgia. Approximately five years of preparation were undertaken prior to its beginning. Penfield was organized to provide a faith-based Christian addiction recovery ministry operating on Christian principles. The ministry of Penfield is rooted in the belief that recovery from addiction can be achieved through a personal faith in Jesus Christ. The use of evidence-based practices in addiction is fundamental to all of our services. Through the power of Jesus Christ, individuals are also taught to apply Biblical principles as expressed in the Twelve Steps, which at Penfield Addiction Ministries, are referred to as Twelve Steps for Successful Christian Living.
Penfield does not insist that clients accept the faith of any particular denomination. Instead, a concept of helping individuals with addiction by motivating them through Biblical principles is at the heart of services that are aimed at helping and healing the whole person. Penfield has established its purpose and mission statement based upon its philosophy and goals.
Penfield desires to provide individuals that are experiencing addiction with the ability to obtain long-term recovery through an integrative, multidisciplinary team approach. We follow established best practices in recovery science through 12-step integration, cognitive behavioral therapy, individual and group counseling, and internal family systems therapy to accomplish this objective. In doing so, we can build a warm, worshipping recovery community of faith that is welcoming to everyone.
Our holistic approach considers all aspects and needs of individuals receiving services by addressing each person's mental, physical, and spiritual aspects. In providing a positive spiritual environment, Penfield can facilitate bringing people to Christ so that they may have a meaningful membership in His family and help them love God and celebrate His goodness.
Providing a strategic and systematic plan helps believers in recovery mature in their faith and discover God's plan for their life and how to follow His plans faithfully. When individuals began to recognize the importance of the relationship with their families, they can build stronger and more meaningful relationships.
It is our promise to the individuals we serve that we will treat everyone, including family members and others, with respect and compassion. In addition, we will provide everyone with the necessary tools and most effective strategies to maintain long-term sobriety and live successful lives. Penfield remains committed to providing access to services by providing need-based financial support through available resources and community involvement to accomplish these goals.
