Tempt-Desserts by Design

I’ve always loved to cook, but I’ve never done it professionally. I had gotten laid off from a job in sales that I was previously working and knew I needed to do something to bring income in while looking for something new. In the back of my mind, I remembered a chocolate shop that I had come across on a business trip and thought, I could probably do that. I started talking with other chocolatiers in the industry to get advice and began to notice many of them were very secretive about it and had no desire to give advice or let me learn under them with the exception of 1 or 2 who weren’t local to me (amazing people!) I decided to just dive in and practice on my own. I started getting the hang of it pretty quickly and wanted to get even better so I enrolled in a chocolatiering school. I kept practicing and getting better to the point I wanted to start selling the chocolate so I did a few festivals but they ended up being pretty small and I had a ton of product left and it dawned on me, “dude you’re a sales guy, go out and sell” so I went door to door selling chocolate and sold out in a few hours. so that was the start. I still make the chocolate in my house as I haven’t been able to get a storefront yet. But the other purpose of this business and our big goal is to use a good bit of the profits we bring in from the chocolate to start up a fully inclusive, multi-sensory activity center for children with special needs. I have a huge heart for kids especially the ones who society very often turns their heads away from and pretends not to notice. These kids need a place they can be kids and interact with others and develop friendships. It’s also a place that parents can come and connect and network and just get a breath of fresh air.
