New Horizon Community Theatre

Established in 1986 as "The Painted Rock Players," the group now known as New Horizon Community Theatre has presented over 600 performances of 196 shows to more than 94,000 enthusiastic patrons in The Greater Valley Area. During that 42-year period, more than 1800 people have participated as actors or crew members, including over 1200 children and teenagers. For many years, we really had no permanent home but eventually purchased an 1880s building in West Point that we had previously been renting. This building started out as a cotton warehouse and has since been a buggy shop, an auto garage, a grocery store, and a business forms office. In 2014, thanks to an amazing local fundraiser that brought in over $1 million, we transformed the building into a performance space and constructed a two-story addition that includes our lobby, restrooms, a green room, an office, and set storage space.
