Georgia doesn’t fool around once the sun goes down in October. Around here, getting scared can mean stepping into a movie-worthy monster world, wandering deep into the woods, or discovering exactly how fast you can run in the dark.
Choose Your Scare
At Netherworld Haunted House in Stone Mountain, horror gets the full cinematic treatment. Created by film and television professionals, Netherworld uses elaborate sets, special effects, monsters, and live actors to build the kind of world where practically every corner deserves suspicion.
But Georgia’s haunt season gets much bigger once you leave the building.
The Farm of Fears in Cartersville sends guests through outdoor trails, eerie woods, abandoned structures, and a haunted corn maze. Haunted Hills Farm in Jasper is celebrating its 10th season in 2026 with a haunted walking trail, hayride, and outdoor blacklight haunt.
Near Athens, Zombie Farms makes the woods themselves part of the production. Its three-quarter-mile trail unfolds through changing stories and elaborate scenes populated by dozens of actors. There’s plenty of room between scares, which also means plenty of time to wonder what’s waiting farther down the trail.
Then Things Get Weird
A good haunt doesn’t necessarily need to stay inside the usual horror playbook. Scare Grounds of the South in Soperton is introducing two attractions for 2026 with very different premises. Nightveil Manor leans into the haunted-estate tradition, while Chronophobia: Terror Through Time sends visitors through horrors inspired by different eras.
Camp Blood in Carrollton has developed a personality all its own. Celebrating 36 years in 2026, the attraction mixes scares and humor with its signature “haunted hillbillies and dead rednecks” theme. It’s proudly backwoods, deliberately over-the-top, and a reminder that October horror doesn’t have to take itself too seriously.
By the end of the night, the details tend to blur together. Was that chainsaw before or after the corn maze? Did something actually move in the woods? Doesn’t matter. You screamed, your friends heard it, and they’re absolutely bringing it up on the ride home.
