Bring the Guests. The Whitlock Inn Will Handle the Charm.
Marietta has plenty of places to gather, but only one where people consistently say, “You have to see it in person.” The Whitlock Inn has earned that reputation. It is a historic property that manages to feel relaxed instead of formal, and familiar even to people walking through the doors for the first time. That balance is why it has quietly become a go to spot for weddings, retreats, and social events of every shape and size.
The story behind it is straightforward and surprisingly practical. The land once held the M.G. Whitlock House, a 150 room resort that drew travelers to Marietta’s cooler foothills in the 1890s. After the resort burned, Herbert and Annie Dobbs built their Victorian family home here, and the property kept adapting as the community changed. It has been a home, a senior center, a bed and breakfast, and today an event venue that still carries the sense of a place meant for people. You see it in the details: gardens and courtyard spaces that feel intentional rather than decorative, parlor rooms centered around original fireplaces, a wraparound veranda that naturally pulls guests outside, and wedding suites designed for comfort instead of photo ops alone.
What sets The Whitlock Inn apart is how easily it supports the kind of gathering people want now: flexible, welcoming, and thoughtfully arranged. The ballroom opens straight to the courtyard. The parlor rooms create natural pockets for conversation. The custom bar and vendor green room keep events moving smoothly. Even the groom’s suite feels like an actual perk, not an afterthought. So when the Inn received a 2025 Best of Georgia Award, the recognition fit. It is a place that works well, feels good, and has quietly been proving itself for more than 120 years.
