Hahira Has the Honey
Hahira is giving the humble honeybee six days in the spotlight. The 45th Hahira Honeybee Festival takes over downtown September 28 through October 3, packing a full week with food, crafts, community traditions, and one very busy Saturday.
The festival opens Monday with a Kick-Off Breakfast at the Hahira Depot. Tuesday brings the Senior Walk, followed Wednesday by the Downtown Brown Bag Luncheon at the Depot. By Friday, the festival shifts into high gear as arts and crafts booths and food vendors arrive downtown, joined by the Hahira Historical Society Fish Fry.
Saturday Earns the Early Alarm
October 3 is the festival’s biggest day, and sleeping in would mean missing quite a bit. The 2026 Hahira Honeybee Festival 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run continues a running tradition more than 30 years old, with proceeds returning to the Hahira community.
Arts and crafts and food vendors return Saturday, and the Honeybee Festival Parade rolls through town as one of the celebration’s signature traditions. The festival is also raffling a hand-sewn quilt by Nan Boyd, with proceeds benefiting the community and the winner drawn at 4 p.m.
The vendor lineup should be plenty full, literally! Festival organizers have already filled every 2026 arts and crafts booth and food vendor space, with the latter selected to provide a broad mix of options.
Built by the Busy Bees
This year’s festival honors the Salvation Army, but community service is baked into the event itself. The Hahira Honeybee Festival Committee is an independent nonprofit made entirely of volunteers, affectionately known as the “Busy Bees.” Their mission centers on supporting Hahira residents and community programs, while the City of Hahira assists with city services and employees during festival week.
That volunteer muscle is what makes a six-day festival possible in a city Hahira’s size. Breakfast, a senior walk, lunch downtown, a fish fry, a road race, vendors, and a parade all share the calendar, turning one annual tradition into a pretty good snapshot of how a small town shows up for itself.
