This summer, Savannah’s historic streets and charming venues are coming alive with the sounds of soaring voices and unforgettable stories.
The Savannah VOICE Festival is back August 7-17, and it’s filled with the magic of live music. From enchanting operas to Broadway favorites and family-friendly shows, this festival offers something for every music lover—and a chance to experience world-class talent right in the heart of the Hostess City of the South.
This year’s festival theme is “Once Upon a Time,” and it’s truly one for the (story)books! One of the biggest highlights is the world premiere of Cinderella’s Royal Feast, an original opera written by Michael Ching. Presented in collaboration with local students from Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts, this magical take on the classic fairy tale promises to charm families and opera lovers alike with its vibrant music and storytelling.
Beyond the glass slipper, the festival offers a rich lineup of fairy tales and classic stories, including Aria, a showcase of operatic hits kicking off the festivities; My Simple Wish, a delightful concert blending Disney classics and Broadway favorites; and Verdi’s Rigoletto, a timeless opera performance. Throughout the festival’s run, visitors can enjoy performances at iconic Savannah spots like The Green-Meldrim House, the Davenport House, and Asbury Memorial Church, all adding to the event’s Southern charm.
The Savannah VOICE Festival is also part of a real-life fairy tale legacy. This year’s events mark the 25th anniversary of the Milnes VOICE Programs, founded by legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes and soprano Maria Zouves to support and inspire the next generation of vocal talent—a milestone that adds even more heart to the celebration.
