Saturday Night's Alright for Frighting!

Saturday Night's Alright for Frighting!

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which means Georgia gets the rare luxury of treating October 31 like a full-day event instead of a school-night sprint between dinner, costumes and candy.

Start With Candy, Cosplay and a Little Hocus Pocus

In Rossville, the Haunted Halloween Bash at Myth & Fable Comics and Cosplay runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving families plenty of time to work their way through vendors, seasonal food, trick-or-treating, cosplay, games and entertainment. It is the kind of schedule that leaves room for a sugar haul without requiring anyone to race the clock.

Farther south in Pickens County, Halloween can roll straight from trick-or-treating into movie night. Undercover Under the Stars begins at 7 p.m. at Perrow Park in Jasper, where the free outdoor screening will feature Hocus Pocus. For families trying to fill that awkward stretch between the last handful of candy and bedtime, a blanket and a familiar trio of witches may do the trick.

Georgia State Parks also has Halloween-day programming scattered across the state, giving families another way to turn October 31 into more than a quick neighborhood lap.

When the Grown-Ups Keep the Costumes On

Halloween does not clock out when the candy buckets come home. At Paradise Hills Winery Resort and Spa in Blairsville, the Hallo-Wine Costume Party offers another way to keep the celebration going, with live music, free tastings for guests in costume and no cover charge. Apparently dressing like Dracula has perks.

Savannah takes the after-dark route with A Nightmare on Congress Street, a Halloween bar crawl and costume contest on October 31. For anyone whose Halloween philosophy leans less pumpkin patch and more downtown nightlife, Savannah has the evening covered.

The calendar lining up with a Saturday is what makes 2026 different. Families can start with costumes and candy, groups can build in an outdoor movie or state-park event, and adults can keep the night going with wine, music or a bar crawl. No squeezing Halloween into the hours after work. This year, Georgia gets the whole day.
