Owner and founder Laura Haverkos built this Fairmount ice cream and coffee shop on a food-first philosophy, serving thoughtful, made-from-scratch treats that feel personal, not mass produced. Everything is crafted daily without fillers, preservatives, synthetic flavorings, or high fructose corn syrup, so each bite or sip tastes intentional, comforting, and a little extraordinary.

Ice cream might steal the show, but the cafe menu holds its own. Southern Creamery Co. offers breakfast and lunch alongside its ever-changing ice cream case, turning every visit into a chance to linger. Coffee drinks are carefully crafted, pastries lean nostalgic, and every item reflects the same playful creativity and quality ingredients as the ice cream. Flavors like Boozy Chocolate Martini, Vegan Churro, Moonpie Madness, and Apple Cider Sorbet rotate daily, keeping regulars coming back and first timers staying longer than planned.

The 2025 Best of Georgia Award is a nod to Southern Creamery Co.’s dedication. Laura Haverkos brought her Nebraska dairy roots to Georgia in 2018, seeking a creative outlet that connected her to the community. With help from her husband Jim and their family, the shop opened to a line out the door and remains a true family operation, from latte art and cake decorating to friendly chats at the counter. Every scoop, coffee, and smile reflects a place built on care, consistency, and joy.
