Atlanta-Based Jeweler Makes The Sweetest Rings
Do you remember the candy crush craze? The addictive game was released in 2012, but was a cultural candy craze by 2014. At one point, it was the most downloaded game in the app store. Everyone from kids to grandparents loved to play and listen to the cheerful tunes while they made candy explosions!
Do you love it enough to compete with the most sugar-crazed in the game? The prize is a custom candy-bling ring made by Atlanta-based jeweler Icebox!
If you have never played, Candy Crush is a game where you need to match colorful candies in rows or columns to clear them from the game board and score points. To play you swipe your finger on the touchscreen to swap adjacent candies and create matches of three or more of the same color. When a match is made, the candies disappear, and new ones fall from the top to fill the gaps. Matching more than three candies creates special candies with unique abilities, such as striped candies that clear an entire row or column or wrapped candies that explode and more. The game has thousands of levels. Literally, more than 10,000 or 15,000 total.

The Candy Crush All Stars tournament is free-to-enter and recently marked the 20th anniversary of the game's developer, King. The tournament narrowed the competition to the top 10 players and in order to receive an invite to the final, the competitors needed to collect as many purple All Star Candies as possible. The best of the best are able to win not only money, but custom championship rings made by Atlanta-based jeweler Icebox. While the celebrity jeweler has also made championship rings for some of the biggest names in sports, the inspired rare gem rings are sweeter than the rest. Adorned with amethysts, yellow and orange sapphires, rubies, blue topaz and brown tourmaline, the three championship rings are set into a bespoke 14k Gold Candy Drip setting. Finalists, along with a guest of their choice, enjoyed an all expenses paid trip to London and a victory dinner. The once-in-a-lifetime experience also included a week's stay in a candified room at a luxury London hotel, as well as a 'behind the candy curtain' tour of King's London HQ.
Candy Crush Saga crowned its ultimate All Stars champion following a live final in London for the biggest prize in casual mobile gaming. Jay, 51, was named Candy Crush All Star 2023, taking home $100,000 and the specially crafted bling-tastic championship ring from celebrity jeweler, after collecting the most purple All Star Candies in an intense, head-to-head battle to win. Jay is a fibre optics specialist and father of four who's completed more than 9,000 Candy Crush Saga levels.
Hailing from New York, Jay beat Cole, from Eugene, Oregon, and Fran, from Madrid, Spain, who finished second and third out of the group of ten finalists spanning three continents - winning $50,000 and $30,000 respectively, alongside runner-up championship rings.
"When I heard I won, it was mind-blowing, that's all I can say, it was incredible. It's like I just won the Super Bowl and I got the ring! I thought Cole had me, I really did, he is one cold guy. Meeting the other finalists was amazing, we all have the same thing in common: Candy Crush - it's a universal language," said Jay.
At the live final event, the finalists donned Candy Crush varsity jackets and were welcomed onto a purple carpet where they were cheered on before competing with their fellow Candy Crush All Stars finalists. To win, Jay had to survive elimination in three tense rounds - coming from behind in the semi-final to nab the last qualifying spot - before the final head-to-head.
