Atlanta Restaurant Named Yelp’s Best New in the South

If you ask us, we definitely think Atlanta is one of the food capitals of the south. It's a melting pot of southern culture, cuisine, and soul. What's not to love? Yelp has just released its 2024 Best New Restaurants in the South list, and one of Atlanta's many delicious dining locations. Southern National ranked #18 on the list! Grab your fork, let's dive in.

The restaurant is overseen by Chef Duane Nutter, who brings locally sourced and fresh ingredients to the menu. In addition to food, the restaurant also has a drink menu curated by renowned barmen Greg Best and Paul Calvert. It's southern flavor at its heart, largely inspired by Chef Nutter's roots. You can stop by for brunch, dinner or drinks. No matter the time of day, you can pick from small plates that are packed with flavor or mains that are designed to pair. 

So what's on the menu? Here is a snapshot at some tasty highlights: 

Brunch: 

• DUCK CONFIT HASH - dice sweet potatoes, green onion, dried cranberries, mushrooms, over easy egg
• THE ORIGINAL “DIRTY SOUTH” - open-face meatloaf sandwich, pimento cheese, sauté spinach, fried egg, bacon, balsamic BBQ sauce
• BISCUIT SERVICE: cane syrup butter and assorted jams 

Dinner:

• GULF COAST FRIED OYSTERS - charred broccoli, chow chow, roasted garlic parmesan dressing
• COFFEE RUBBED GRILLED PORK LOIN - grits, 5 spice turnip sweet potato apple hash, red wine sauce
• SMOKED SHORT RIB & SHRIMP* - parmesan grits, fennel & jicama salad

The annual list includes some great picks from all over the South, from Texas to Kentucky and right down to Miami, Florida. The #1 pick was Noko, located in Nashville. According to Yelp, "This wildly popular wood-fired Asian grill is taking Nashville by storm, with spicy, sharable tapas inspired by backyard cookouts. Noko, short for nokoribi (“embers” in Japanese), puts a creative spin on favorite comfort foods, by smoking, searing, and roasting them". Menu options include Kansas City burn ends with Asian-style glaze, Tuna Cripy Rice with aioli, and even Lobster Bao Buns.
