Eight Years in a Row! Georgia Ranked "Top State for Doing Business"
The Peach State we know and love continues to earn its name as a top business leader. While attending the grand opening ceremony for a new Amazon robotics facility in Columbia County, Governor Brian Kemp made an exciting announcement: Georgia has ranked #1 as the “Top State for Doing Business” for 2021. This marks the eighth consecutive year that leading economic development magazine, Area Development, has given Georgia this esteemed title.
Every year, Area Development evaluates 13 different factors across the 50 states when making this determination, from logistics and infrastructure to business incentive programs and access to capital. In 2021, Georgia earned the #1 spot in five out of these 13 categories: overall cost of doing business, cooperative and responsive state government, competitive labor environment, workforce development programs and available real estate. Georgia also placed in the top 10 for all 13 categories.
“We’re proud to accept the title of Top State for Doing Business from Area Development for the eighth year in a row,” said Governor Kemp. “Thanks to our nation-leading workforce development efforts, resilient job creators, and strong pro-business environment, Georgia is emerging from the global pandemic with unprecedented economic momentum. My administration will remain focused on building on this solid foundation and continuing to bring more jobs and opportunity to hardworking Georgians across the state."
