Georgia Aquarium Glows Up—Literally!

Georgia Aquarium Glows Up—Literally!

You’ve heard of The Night the Lights Went Out in GeorgiaReba made sure of that! But this summer, the Georgia Aquarium is flipping the script. The lights are officially on, and the whole place is pulsing with glow-in-the-dark charm and eclectic energy.

Launched May 30 and running through August 17, Glow Nights is the Aquarium’s brand-new evening series! It reimagines after-hours with roaming performers, neon snacks, and immersive spectacles… All inside the largest aquarium in the country, with over 11 million gallons of water and thousands of animals, including the ever-majestic whale sharks! Imagine sipping a UV-reactive lemonade while a stilt walker juggles by the beluga tank—not exactly your standard aquarium visit!

Neon Nights For Nautical Types

Things get glowing at 4 PM, when the atrium trades its usual calm for blacklight tattoos, LED art, and photo ops you’ll se(a)riously want to anchor on your wall. By 5 PM, the performers roll in: aerialists twirling from the rafters, sway pole dancers drifting over the crowd, and unicyclists navigating the galleries like it’s just another night on the town.

It’s colorful, high-energy, and swimmingly unexpected—even if you're not usually the “aquarium on a weeknight” type!

Glow-Up Guide:

  • Runs nightly through August 17
  • Glow activities start at 4 PM; performances begin at 5
  • Included with general admission (select evenings are $10 off after 4 PM)

The Bright Side of Science

It’s not just about the glow sticks and stilt walkers! The Georgia Aquarium is a nonprofit, so each ticket helps power marine research, animal rescue, and education programs statewide. It’s the best of both worlds! So while you're munching glow-in-the-dark cotton candy and watching a manta ray cruise by, you're also helping protect the very creatures putting on the show. Science rules! (We’re with you, Bill Nye the Science Guy.)

If your summer’s felt dimmer than an anglerfish without its headlamp, consider this your bait! The whale sharks are cruising, the acrobats are flying, and unlike The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia… This place is lit in all the right ways!
