Hook Line & Schooner, a family-owned seafood haven, recently took home its third consequtive Best of Georgia Award—a well-deserved nod from loyal patrons who have voted this spot as a local favorite (2022-2024). Since opening its doors in 2018, Hook Line & Schooner has stood out for more than just its fresh, house-cut seafood. It's a place where food, family, and a strong sense of community come together, making every meal feel like a family gathering.
“Our guests are family,” says co-owner Rosey Varno. “Stop in and get hooked” isn’t just a slogan; it’s the experience they strive to provide every day. The Varno family’s dedication to creating an inviting, comfortable space reflects in the atmosphere they’ve crafted—upscale yet casual, with a laid-back, coastal restaurant feel. Guests can dive into a diverse menu featuring everything from crab legs, lobster rolls, and fresh oysters to hearty sandwiches, juicy steaks, and even burgers. And for those who want to “drink like a captain,” there’s always a schooner of craft beer ready.
But what truly sets Hook Line & Schooner apart is its commitment to giving back. The restaurant is proud to support, operate, and serve as the headquarters for the Raining Cats and Dogs Rescue Ltd. HLS created this 501(c)(3) organization through the State of Georgia and the IRS to rescue homeless cats and dogs in Cobb County. Through the HLS Roundup Program, diners can choose to round up their bill, with the extra money going directly to pull cats and dogs from kill shelters who are at risk of euthanasia. The HLS Roundup Program sends additional funds to each shelter that takes its rescue pets and directly issues 501(c)3 letters to generous donors.
