Marvel Pulling No Punches as "She-Hulk" Starts Shooting in Fayetteville

Comic books have been with us for decades, and the Marvel Incredible Hulk series is one of the most memorable. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, it ran until 1999. If you are a fan of the Hulk movies, you’ll be thrilled to know that yet another TV series is being made.

But this time, it’s a twist on previous versions. She-Hulk is filming between April and August this year at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville and is aiming for release by the streaming service Disney+ in 2022. Trilith Studios is building up an illustrious reputation, having been utilized for movies and TV series from the Marvel basket including Ant-Man, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye.

TRILITH
Situated some 20 miles south of Atlanta, Trilith, in Fayetteville, Georgia, is a purpose-built town enclosed in the 935-acre grounds of Trilith Studios. Comprising 235 acres, the town caters to the film industry, other creative businesses, and their families. It currently includes restaurants, a fitness studio, and a school, as well as dedicated green space. Eventually some 5,000 residents will be housed in a variety of dwellings such as townhouses, apartments and modular cabins known as microhomes.

TITLE ROLE Amidst much speculation, it has been announced that the title role of She-Hulk, aka Jennifer Walters, will be played by Tatiana Maslany, best known for the TV series Orphan Black.

STORYLINE
For those unfamiliar with the Hulk storyline, David Banner was a genetics researcher, attempting to modify DNA for the government. He conducts experiments on himself causing his genes to mutate. His son Bruce is born shortly afterwards, having inherited his father’s altered DNA.

Fast forward thirty years and Bruce is also working as a scientist at Berkeley. A radiation accident in the lab sees this merge with his already-mutated DNA. This causes him to metamorphose into The Hulk, with green skin and enormous strength when he becomes enraged, destroying everything around him. He mutates back and forth between the two personae, incurring adventures at every turn with his love interest, Betty Ross.

She-Hulk emerges when Jennifer Walters, Bruce’s cousin, receives an emergency blood transfusion from him. She takes on several of his traits, including the green-tinged skin and superior strength. However, she is not as strongly affected, and can better control the effects by retaining her composure and intelligence when provoked into anger.
