Sure, candy is great -- but there's no reason not to elevate your trick-or-treating experience. Fast Food chains are getting creative and bringing out the monstrous. From purple burger buns to slime ghost donuts, there's a lot happening in the food world. While pumpkin is the prominent fall flavor, these items push the boundaries a bit.

Dunkin' Donuts: Purple Potions Galore

Purple Coffee? Yup, a purple Potion Macchiato is gracing the Dunkin' menu. Available hot or iced, this showstopping beverage blends layers of espresso and milk with a vibrant, purple marshmallow ube flavor. If you haven't had ube before, it's a sweet and nutty root vegetable. Think like sweet potato reminiscent, in that it makes a better dessert than a normal starch or veggie would. In honor of the new purple-hued brew, Dunkin’s beloved Spider Specialty Donut is getting a makeover for the spooky season. The formerly orange-frosted donut is adorned with purple frosting this year and, as always, topped with a Glazed Chocolate MUNCHKINS Donut Hole Treat, complete with chocolate drizzle for spider legs and white drizzle forming the eyes.

Burger King: Welcome Wednesday's Whopper (and more!) 

This Halloween, Burger King is teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios Consumer Products and the animated adaptations of The Addams Family to serve up scary delicious takes on some of the brand’s most iconic menu items. The Addams Family Menu features four spooky items – each inspired by a different character.

• Wednesday’s Whopper – Enjoy the iconic flame-grilled Whopper topped with Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions all toasted on a purple bun that gets its hue from purple potato topped with black sesame seeds.
• Thing’s Rings – Hold tight to Thing’s Rings, signature BK crispy onion rings served in themed packaging of The Addams Family’s beloved, but mysterious one-handed helper – Thing!
• Gomez’s Churro Fries – Keep the flames of love alive with Gomez’s Churro Fries – deliciously crispy, fried churros coated in cinnamon sugar and paired with chocolate dipping sauce.
• Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake – You don’t have to be a psychic to know you’ll love this delicious shake that features creamy soft serve mixed with chocolate cake batter fudge and topped with black and purple cookie pieces.

Poor Pugsley doesn't have a themed item on the menu, but the rest of the items are now available. Burger King will also be releasing a limited-edition line of King Jr. Meal toys inspired by the squad.

Beginning today for a limited time at participating Krispy Kreme shops, guests can enjoy a spine-tingling selection of doughnuts in a limited-edition custom Ghostbusters specialty box:
