Yarn Manufacturer Announces $30 Million Expansion in Rome, Ga.

The Georgia economy is about to get a boost thanks to a local yarn company’s $30 million expansion. The family-owned yarn business, Integrated Fiber Solutions (or IFS for short), makes synthetic BCF yarns. BCF is an acronym for bulk continuous filament. This yarn is versatile and durable and is a vital material for various manufacturing sectors, being widely used in the automotive, rug and carpet industries.

IFS plans to invest a whopping $30 million to expand its Georgia operations, a move that will greatly benefit the local Rome economy where IFS operations are based. The notable expansion was triggered by a heightened demand for IFS yarn products.

Jobs are Coming to Rome, Georgia

IFS’s expansion of operations will create an additional 40 jobs for those living in and around Floyd County. And if the demand for IFS products continues to rise, there is abundant potential for even more jobs to be added in the future—a fantastic opportunity for the North Georgia economy. As a family-owned business owned and operated by Georgia residents, IFS can largely keep their profits and economic growth within our “Peach State”, which is something that not many similar companies can say.

A Closer Look at IFS

IFS was founded back in 1986. The company’s purpose is to meet the needs of carpet, rug, and automotive businesses by providing them with high-quality, affordable synthetic yarn. With locations in Rome, Lafayette, and Dalton (aka "the Carpet Capital of the World"), IFS employs more than 600 people throughout Georgia’s northwestern region—a figure which will likely rise to over 650 or 700 once the robust expansion is completed over the next few years.
